I prefer to triple stitch the seams to help against ripping and I like to securely sew limbs etc on with heavy duty, quality thread. They will generally withstand some tugging, but not vicious abuse. They are made to be loved and to last.

All Platypus Creations sock creations are totally hand crafted from brand new socks and are stuffed with 100% hyper-allergenic polyester filling in a nut, pet and smoke free environment.

Please note: Some socks tend to pill or even fray a bit. Do not cut the threads or pull on them. They will not cause the monkey to fall apart. It is part of the natural wear.

My first sock monkey for 2017 and I am giving it away!

Did you have a lovely Christmas with loved ones. I am fortunate to have all my children home for Christmas Day and most stayed on for a few extra days. It is noisy busy and I wouldn't have it any other way!

I have just started up sewing again and have finished my first sock monkey for the year.

I have decided to give it away to one of my lovely facebook supporters to have a chance of winning this monkey for absolutely free. Whoo goes there?

Owls can be so adorable that I have made some sock owls just for you. I would love you to meet these wonderful creatures. Did you know that a group of owls is called a parliament? Well wouldn't you much rather vote for these guys than the fellas in Canberra. I know I would have more faith in these cute owls!

LETS MEET THE OWLS

Cassy the apricot coloured owl is the largest owl at around 10cm tall. She has gorgeous green button eyes and a little flower on her head.

Blue Wing is roughly 9.5cm tall and he has lovely lime green stripes with slightly darker green eye pads surrounding his lovely red button eyes.

Ollie is the second smallest owl here. He is just 8.5cm approx.

Socks, socks and more socks in all shapes, sizes, and colours

I’ve made a few of these sock toys now and I have been enjoying creating all manner of toys out of them.

So of course that means if I want to keep going, I am going to have to start collecting them. Well, that's been no chore. In fact I just can't help myself... I keep finding new socks, especially in the post Christmas sales. I can even find brand new socks at op shops on occasions. I am not above using second hand ones, but I more or less want to know the person for some reason. If I am going to sell these cuties, then surely you are entitled to have toys made from brand new socks.

We all have them, in all shapes, sizes, and colours. They serve many purposes: They mainly warm our feet or protect our feet inside shoes. They are great for tussles with the family pet. They can be annoying when they separate and we can't find the mate.

But in my mind, best of all is that socks can be used to create the most incredibly cute and durable toys. We all love things that make us happy. I find it amazing that even a plain sock let alone a pretty sock can bring us so much joy!

I find that I just can't walk past shops now without taking a peek at their socks. I picked up some great post Christmas bargain socks.  Of course I can order them on line, but I just love seeing and feeling their texture.

 I have to make a few more cats and monkeys for sure. I want to play around with and idea for a dinosaur (and if it doesn't turn out then I will turn it into an alien for fun!

Christmas Snowmen, angels and a Santa

Christmas meant that I could indulge in my passion for snowmen. I didn't make any more Olafs this year but take a gander at these gorgeous creations.

Merry Christmas to you. I will be having a few weeks off for family activities. We'll see you around the middle of January! Here's some individuals as well.
